The 34th April Spring Friendship Art Festival opened in Pyongyang to mark the 114th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung .
The festival brought together famous art troupes, dance troupes and circus troupes of dozens of countries and art troupes of overseas Koreans.
Introduced in a video dealing with the news of the festival opening were the form, method and scale of the current festival, and congratulatory speeches by personages of various circles and performances of artistes in different countries.
Hyon Un Chol, minister of Culture of the DPRK who is chairman of the festival organizing committee, warmly congratulated the creators and artistes of different countries and overseas compatriot artistes participating in the festival. And he declared the opening of the festival, expressing belief that the festival would mark a significant occasion in boosting cultural exchange and cooperation in line with the expectation of the DPRK people and the world progressives.
The minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, the minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, the minister of Culture and Tourism of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and other personages of various circles said that the April Spring Friendship Art Festival is an important occasion for cultural and artistic exchange and collaboration among countries as a well-known world-wide art festival for a long period. They wished the festival success.
Artistes of the Russian Army Academic Song and Dance Ensemble Named after Alexandrov presented such colourful numbers as mixed choruses of immortal revolutionary hymns “Song of General Kim Il Sung ” and “Song of General Kim Jong Il ,” mixed chorus “Care of My Destiny” (Korean song), male solo and chorus “On Steppe under Bright Sun” and dance “Holiday Dance” to significantly decorate the opening of the festival.
