From the end of last year to early this year regional-industry factories were successively inaugurated with splendid ceremonies across the DPRK. On February 11, the 20th inauguration ceremony took place in Kim Hyong Jik County of Ryanggang Province to mark the successful conclusion of the first-year goal of the Regional Development 20×10 Policy in the new era.

The event meant the final completion of the construction of the regional-industry factories in 20 cities and counties. The whole population was in great excitement over their construction.

Seeing the goods rolling off the production lines of the new factories, the local residents shed tears of joy, saying with confidence that every region has rosy prospects for development of its own characteristics.

The successive inauguration ceremonies inspire them with confidence and jubilation that the policies of the Workers’ Party of Korea are a science and victory and that all the glory and happiness will be in store for them under its guidance.

Less than one year has passed since the groundbreaking ceremony of regional-industry factories in Songchon County of South Phyongan Province. During this period the results of the first-year drive to carry out the regional development policy appeared one after another, at a surprisingly high rate and with perfect quality. All the achievements struck the Korean people with admiration and excitement.

This is not significant only because scores of new factories have been built.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the regional-industry factories in Songchon County held on December 20 last year, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un stated with pride that the erection of new entities in different regions of the country gave the people a sure understanding that the regions are undergoing a transformation and made it possible to secure the motive force to promote the regional development policy more scientifically and accurately on the basis of many-sided and rich experience.

It became almost a foregone conclusion that with the construction of modern light industry factories in all cities and counties across the country within ten years the rural people will be on a par with the urban people in the aspects of material and economic life.

The first proud entities of the regional-industry revolution are monumental edifices of the times born of the noble view of Kim Jong Un on the people and his devoted service for them.

As regards the construction project some officials were not confident of its feasibility in view of the objective conditions and the urgent tasks to deal with. But he was already quite confident of its victory.

He said in a public event: Is this possible? It’s quite possible.

The statement represented the most clear-cut and resolute decision he made in consideration of the mature requirements of the developing revolution.

The successful progress of the regional development policy continues into this year.

On February 6 the groundbreaking ceremony of a hospital and a leisure complex in Kangdong County for the Regional Development 20×10 Policy was held in the presence of Kim Jong Un , followed by the groundbreaking ceremony of regional-industry factories and a hospital in Ryonggang County. On February 10 the groundbreaking ceremony of a 450-hectare greenhouse farm and vegetable science research centre to be built on the shore of the Amnok River of North Phyongan Province was held with a loud sound of blasting.

Kim Jong Un called for making bigger and correct strides while attaching more importance to the lessons and prospects rather than visible successes, saying that the great years of transformation in 20 cities and counties with the turn of year should continue without fail. This year, too, the construction of regional-industry factories goes on in another 20 cities and counties.
