Hyon Jong Suk is headmistress of Taebo Primary School in Pothonggang District, Pyongyang, and her family is called a family of educators.
Her husband and son-in-law teach at Kim Il Sung University and her eldest daughter Kim Un Jong is a teacher at Sohung Primary School in Moranbong District.
It was decades ago that she married Kim Chang Sik who was teaching at Kim Il Sung University, Hyon said, adding they promised to devote their all to educational work.
Since then, they have thrown themselves into teaching, helping each other and pooling wisdom. In the course of this the couple earned the master’s degree.
Over the decades she has received over 20 certificates of registration of new teaching method and over 30 certificates of invention of experimental apparatus and teaching aid.
Among them are new teaching methods based on apps Mental Arithmetic School 1.0 and English Text Reciting Test System 1.0 .
“From childhood I have grown up seeing many disciples of my parents visiting my home to see them on holidays and birthdays. Among them were scientists, officials and army officers. I found my parents felt very proud of them. So I decided to follow suit,” said her eldest daughter Un Jong.
While in work, she has written over 10 papers, including “Study on preserving national identity in the production of fables,” which earned her a master’s degree in 2021.
In 2020 her husband Nam Jong Hak was also awarded a master’s degree for the “Study on breeding of rare animals in the Central Zoo” and other papers.
Hyon’s youngest son Kim Chol Mu, who was recently discharged from the army, has got into Kim Chol Ju University of Education with a resolve to carry on the baton of his family.
