There is a picturesque coastal village in Sepho-ri, Ragwon County, South Hamgyong Province, adjoining the East Sea of Korea.
In fact, the village was no more than a little fishing port with a sandy beach and little was known about it.
But today it is well known as Ragwonpho, a beautiful port symbolic of regional renovation and civilization, with a peculiar seafood production base equipped with modern production facilities and processing lines and stylish fishermen’s houses lining up along the foot of a mountain.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un put forward a plan for building a modern offshore farm there in December 2024 in order that Ragwon County could thrive and become a model of socialist paradise with sound foundations for development in name and reality.
And he formed a powerful construction force, designated the site of construction and gave instructions on the layouts of the buildings and fishermen’s village.
In February last year he attended the groundbreaking ceremony to dig the first spadeful of earth. He said that he would present a beautiful fishing village to Ragwon County by building a modern offshore farm in the area together with wonderful flats sustaining the characteristics of the coastal area, and that it would be a good idea to call the fishing village Ragwonpho in the future.
Afterwards, he frequented the construction site to make sure that a new phase of development was achieved in all aspects including architectural viewpoint and vision, design and construction, and production facilities and equipment.
Under his wide guidance a stylish offshore farm sprang up in the east coast of the country, with hundreds of dwelling houses built in 79 blocks and over 20 forms.
On August 30 last year he cut the tape in the inauguration ceremony of the Ragwon County Offshore Farm. That day he said that he felt boundless dignity and pride in having done another good thing for the people as he saw the county people full of joy, impressed by the eye-opening reality of their wonderfully built living place, adding that Ragwonpho is so beautiful because it vividly reflects the bright looks of the people upon the spectacular and fantastic landscape.
Describing Ragwonpho as a paradise of people, he met and blessed working people to move into the new village.
