Many achievements have recently been made in the protection of national heritage.
Samsok District, Pyongyang, finished rearrangement projects of the area around a historical kiln site in Honam-ri and the hydric lands of the reserves inhabited by the Sunghori terrapin and the Taedonggang Lamprotula polysticta , both of which are natural living monuments. It also performed the maintenance and painting of scores of historical relics and natural monuments.
South Hamgyong Province’s Yonggwang and Ragwon counties carried out the maintenance of the Hyangno Hall of the Ryonghung Temple and the Changryong Fort.
Many other areas conducted protection activities in close combination with land management.
The Myohyangsan Scenic Spots Management Station in Hyangsan County, Jagang Province, completed the construction of facilities in the area of Manphok Valley for the convenience of tourists in a short span of time and reconstructed the mountain-climbing road.
The area around the Puyong Pavilion in Haeju City of South Hwanghae Province and a sightseeing road in the scenic spot of Mt Kuwol in Anak County were also facelifted.
In close cooperation with researchers at relevant units, Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang, is undertaking the maintenance of the subsidiary buildings of the Pobun Hermitage on the principle of remaining faithful to historical facts.
South Hwanghae Province’s Pyoksong County takes good care of Sohyon Confucian School, adding more to its beauty.
