Last March shoes were supplied to new students across the country on the occasion of the new school year.
Ribbon-decorated leather shoes were given to girls in primary schools and junior and senior middle schools and sneakers to boys in those schools, while leather shoes were distributed to university and college students.
Entrants everywhere were excited to receive new shoes. Their parents, full of emotions, said that they could hardly express their gratitude to the state for having supplied their children with footwear as well as new bags, uniforms and school things.
An official of the Ministry of Light Industry said that according to a state measure factories specializing in the production of schoolchildren’s footwear have been built across the country in recent years and the products are supplied to new entrants every year.
The Pyongyang Schoolchildren’s Footwear Factory is one of those factories.
The factory located in Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang, produces shoes for schoolchildren in primary schools and junior and senior middle schools and university and college students in the city.
Although it is not long since it was inaugurated, the factory increases output by ensuring full operation of all production facilities and applying rational working methods.
Its employees direct efforts to every product as if they were making shoes for their own children.
Recently, the factory has turned the shoemaking process into an assembly line and introduced a quality test system based on image recognition, thus laying a guarantee for improving the quality of products.
With refined and elegant shapes and improved adhesion, the factory’s products are positively appreciated by pupils and students, who say that they are convenient to wear and durable despite heavy exercise.
The factory won the national competition of schoolchildren’s footwear producers last year.
