Established in 1996, the Pyongyang External Civil Law Firm of the Korea Lawyers Association is an authorized entity whose mission is to provide effective legal advice on to the external civil affairs raised by domestic institutions, enterprises, organizations and citizens, overseas Koreans, foreign cooperate bodies and individuals so as to protect their rights and interests and ensure the correct enforcement of law.
It is staffed with full-time lawyers, their assistants and part-time lawyers who hold academic degrees in the international economic law.
They render various kinds of legal advices according to the principle of scientific accuracy, objectivity, impartiality and responsibility.
The firm gives legal advice concerning all problems related to the DPRK’s law and legal system, foreign laws and regulations on civil and economic affairs, and international conventions and order, while providing answers to the questions raised by clients and briefings on investment laws.
So far they have drawn up, examined or completed many documents of legal significance including contract, application for mediation and litigation and plea.
They work as the agents representing litigation and arbitration proceedings about disputes in international trade, maritime affairs and copyrights.
In this way they have contributed to winning several arbitration cases about international trade disputes and solved civil affairs concerning inheritance and donation of properties.
In addition, they have acted as legal advisers under contract with foreign businesses.
The firm conducts exchanges and cooperation with foreign advisory bodies and law firms. All this has earned it deep trust among investment businesses and trading companies at home and abroad.
