There are some landmark buildings in the third-stage residential district in Pyongyang’s Hwasong area inaugurated in April.
The most eye-catching structure is the overpass with a chain of neighbourhood-serving amenities.
The overpass connects two high-rise apartment houses across the avenue at the height of scores of metres, representing the gate of the entrance to the third-stage area.
The horizontal passage connecting the two towers and supported by an arch-shaped structure gives formative and artistic beauty to the overall building.
There are a lift and staircase leading to the passage in each of the towers, the roofs of which are hipped.
A large clock hangs in the middle of the arch to provide convenience and add more beauty to the structure.
Part of the floor of the aerial passage is glazed with glass so that visitors can look down while enjoying views on both sides. The passage is over 10 metres wide and 90 metres long.
The landmark building goes well with the Amisan Motor Service Centre, Hwasong Video Game Centre, Hwasong Ragwon BBQ Restaurant and other surrounding service facilities and apartment houses, adding spice to the third-stage area.
