In the DPRK, teachers are held in respect as patriots who bring up future generations.
On September 6, 2019, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un came to have a photo taken with the participants in the 14th National Conference of Teachers.
Earlier, shortly before the photo session, there was an emergency enlarged meeting of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea at the headquarters building of the Party Central Committee. He had presided over the meeting.
The major agenda item of the meeting was on how to minimize the damage from typhoon No. 13 that was expected to severely affect almost all parts of the country.
Immediately after the meeting, he made his way to the venue of the photo session without having a moment’s rest.
When he came to the stand, warmly waving back to the cheering participants, two teachers, a man and a woman, made a deep bow to him with fragrant bouquets in their hands.
First, a department head of Kim Chaek University of Technology presented a bouquet to him in reflection of the unanimous wishes of all the teachers across the country.
On receiving the bouquet, he gave it back to the educator saying that it is the teachers, not him, who deserve a bouquet.
As it was an unexpected situation, the educator was at a loss what to do.
Next a woman teacher from Sinpha Primary School in Kim Jong Suk County, Ryanggang Province, presented a bouquet to him, which he also gave back to her.
Then he warmly encouraged them to make a great success in their work to train talents.
All the participants were moved to tears by his benevolent care with which he treasured and put forward them so much.
As he highly held up teachers, who devoted their all to bringing up the rising generations and training talents for the country, as the patriots, he proposed building apartment houses for them and led the whole processes of the construction. And when he met the teachers who had volunteered to work at the schools in remote islands and mountain villages, he highly praised them as genuine patriots with ennobling view of life. And when he visited Kim Chaek University of Technology on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of its founding, he made a deep bow to its teachers and researchers.
The bouquets he gave back to the educators reflected his ardent congratulations to and warm blessings for not only the participants of the conference but also all other educators across the country.
