Just like we did in the past five-year struggle in which we pioneered the era of comprehensive development of socialism, we will completely rely on our internal force, the great might of our people, in the new upcoming five-year struggle, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as he addressed the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea in February this year.

In retrospect, during the term of the eighth Party Central Committee alone, a large number of structures born of the spirit of self-development and self-prosperity came into being in the DPRK.

Firmly determined to overcome the obstacles ahead by relying entirely on the strength of the people and shape a rosy future, Comrade Kim Jong Un underlined the importance of the spirit of self-prosperity and self-reliance at major meetings of the Party Central Committee.

On his tireless inspection tours of numerous construction sites and units he implanted into the mind of the people the truth that self-reliance is the only way out, instilled strength and courage into them, and was very happy to see structures built by the working class by their own efforts.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Hoeyang Army-People Power Station in November last year, he described the people in Kangwon Province as the embodiment of the pioneering spirit and model of the times who proved with their steadfast patriotism and loyalty and persistent efforts the vitality of the policy of the Party which asserts that self-reliance is the only way out and nothing is impossible to those who hold self-reliance and self-development as the motive power.

This year, too, when he visited the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, Ryongsong Machine Complex, Samgwang Livestock Farm, Sangwon Cement Complex and others, he was greatly pleased to see the achievements and structures which the working class brought about by displaying the spirit of self-reliance.

What we should consider as more precious is that our faith that “self-reliance is the only way out,” which our people have firmly maintained over the long years of trials, believing in the Party and the state and encouraging themselves while tightening their belts, has turned out to be effective in practice, in reality, he said in his policy speech at the First Session of the 15th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK in March this year.

Today the Korean people are dynamically ushering in a new era of creation and transformation in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance, whose advantage and vitality have been proved from one century to the next and through many decades, under the leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un .
