Sea Chilbo is part of Mt Chilbo, a celebrated mountain in the DPRK famous for its beautiful and distinctive scenery.
The area of Sea Chilbo is dotted with precipitous coastal cliffs, a myriad of weirdly shaped rocks over them and along the coast and islets of different sizes. Blue waves of the East Sea of Korea constantly crash onto the reefs, throwing up a spray of droplets. All this unfolds rare coastal scenes.
The area boasts a bathing beach and lots of scenic spots and mysteriously shaped rocks, including the Mujigae Rock, Khokkiri Rock and, Tal Gate and Sol Islet.
The Sol Islet in the area is noted for its cliffs, rocks, pine tree grove and scenery in good harmony with the sea. Halfway up the islet is the Ryong (dragon) Cave, created by the erosion by seawater for a long time and connected with seawater at the bottom. A cosy pavilion stands on top of the islet.
The Mujigae (rainbow) Rock fantastically overhangs between the mountain foot and the sea.
The Khokkiri (elephant) Rock, when seen from afar, arguably resembles an elephant with its “trunk” put into the seawater.
Every year the resort is visited by crowds of holidaymakers from all walks life.
