The DPRK is proactively working to cope with disastrous abnormal weather in its effort to protect state and public wealth and people’s lives and property.
The Ministry of Disaster Management makes sure that all regions make scrupulous preparations to rapidly respond to unexpected challenges by completing work system and action plans for emergency in a detailed way.
In addition, it is pushing the efforts to make a prediction chart for scientific analysis of the risks caused by landslides, while revising and supplementing methods for accurately estimating the ability to address natural disasters.
It strives to set proper norms for stockpiling means of rescue operation and relief materials to counter different disaster patterns and secure them as required by the regulations under a far-reaching plan while taking rational measures for flood control.
In particular, it has established multiple warning systems through online and offline telecommunications and radio broadcast in a bid to set up a system to promptly warn every region against flood, typhoon, volcano, earthquake and other emergencies.
The State Hydro-Meteorological Administration is working on a research project to establish an integrated information system so that the meteorological observation stations and marine observatories across the country can ensure the scientific accuracy of forecast and correctly analyse meteorological, hydrological and marine conditions by normalizing their automatic observation.
It is also pushing ahead with the work to introduce modern automatic weather observation equipment into major meteorological observation points.
