The Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory in Phyongchon District, Pyongyang, is the maker of the Unhasu -brand cosmetics with an international competitive edge.
One day in February 2015 the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the factory.
That day he made the rounds of the cosmetics workshop, soap workshop, sci-tech learning space, sample room and other places of the factory to learn in detail about its production and management.
During his stay at the factory he noted that cosmetics should be produced so that people can choose them according to their tastes and habits and skin quality and colour, explaining to the officials the world trend of cosmetics industry and the orientation and ways for improving the quality of products.
And he continued to stress the need to improve the level of sci-tech knowledge and technical skills of the workers, develop industrial design and ensure the development and provision of raw and other materials such as essential oils. He said that he had long planned to build a model factory in the cosmetics industry, and that he was determined to turn the Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory into a world-class standard factory, a model factory.
Thanks to his wise leadership, the factory was remodelled in October 2017 as a model of technology-intensive industry where scientific research is integrated with production and as a centre of the domestic cosmetics industry.
The quality of over 20 kinds of its cosmetics including the aging-retarding cream, astringent lotion and night cream, all made with Kaesong Koryo insam as the main raw material, was certified by the Eurasian Economic Union and they won special prizes and top prizes at national exhibitions.
Today the factory turns out hundreds of kinds of quality cosmetics including functional ones.
