Thanks to the wise leadership of the Workers’ Party of Korea to provide the people with a happier life and more cultured living conditions, the Samjiyon area is being transformed into a model of modern mountain city, an all-season tourist resort.
New tourist attractions have been developed and many hotels and service amenities built.
They include a recreation hall and an exhibition house.
Here tourists enjoy their time, seeing exhibits and doing sports and recreational activities.
Visit to the Samjiyon Grand Monument depicting the homeland advance of the soldiers of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army during the anti-Japanese armed struggle and sightseeing tour of the Rimyongsu area that presents magnificent scenery combined with the beautiful mountains and a waterfall–all these leave a great impression on the tourists.
Tourists visit Chairman Kim Jong Il ’s birthplace in the Paektusan Secret Camp.
Part of the attraction of the tour of the Samjiyon area comes from skiing at the Pegaebong Ski Resort.
Located at a suitable place for skiing, the resort provides magnificent scenery with dense forests nearby and fresh atmosphere.
Sledges and snowmobiles are also available for the tourists here.
Playing video and folk games at the recreation hall and enjoying the schoolchildren’s artistic performance at the Samjiyon Schoolchildren’s Palace will be all good experience.
Hotels including Sobaeksu, Ikal, Potnamu, Chongbong and Milyong, the names of which are symbolic of the area, are ideal for a variety of cultural activities.
Bathing in the indoor and outdoor spas at the Milyong Hotel, in particular, gives a peculiar experience to its guests.
Today the area is witnessing a booming tourist industry.
