People’sAthlete Pang Chol Mi won victory in the 52kg category of the IBA World Women’s Boxing Championships in2025 after 2018 and became a two-time world champion.
Born into an ordinaryfarmer’s family in the city of Jongju of North Phyongan Province, Pang started tolearn the rudiments of boxing at a sports school in the city with anextraordinary resolve to exalt the honour of the country with gold medals.
Though young,she selected the sport which is tough even for men and put all her intelligenceand passion into training with a burning ambition.
She was pickedto a sports club after distinguishing herself in national competitions. She trainedhard to achieve success at the 18th Asian Games.
After winningthe 51kg category event of the IBA World Women’s Boxing Championships in 2018,she earned a gold medal in the women’s boxing event of the 19thAsian Games.
And aftergetting a bronze in the women’s boxing event of the 33rd OlympicGames, she trained harder as she was guilt-ridden for having failed to live upto the trust and expectations of the Workers’ Party and the country which puther forward as a People’s Athlete.
Once she seta goal for training, she would attain it without condition. As she had such atemperament, she underwent rigorous training, overcoming enormous physicalburdens.
As she wasprepared physically, technically, mentally and morally, she could win the firstplace by overpowering all rivals at the 2025 IBA World Women’s Boxing Championshipsand brought a great joy to her country.
Today, she istraining hard in the training ground with the patriotic mind to live up to thecountry’s expectations and trust.
