In late November 1997 when sleet was blowing in the strongwind, Chairman Kim Jong Il visitedthe Yombun Revolutionary Site.
Hearing the lecturer's explanation, he recollectedwith deep emotion the memorable events associated with the historic site thatday. Then he put his hands on his waist andenjoyed the view of Yombunjin.
He said that the scenery of Yombunjin was very goodand that the weather that day was cloudy and rainy and it would be better if itwas fine.
The lecturer and all the officials were very anxious,thinking how pleased they would be if the Chairman visited it on a fine day andin a good season.
Then the Chairman asked abruptly how many peoplevisited it in a year and where they had a rest when they visited it.
Without thinkingdeeply, the lecturer answered that afterhearing the lecture in front of the monument with due respect, the visitors had a mealand rest in the nearby pine grove outside the compound.
Chairman KimJong Il saidover and over again in a low andthoughtful voice that they had a rest in other place leaving this good place.
The lecturer said that visitors were so enchanted withits beautiful scenery that they were reluctant to leave it, but it had amonument and so all of them did not want to have a rest in front of it. TheChairman said that they might well not do so, tellingthe accompanying officials that they should ensure more people come to Yombunjinwith beautiful scenery and have a rest to their heart’s content and the peopleshould enjoy pleasure in this place associated with the footprints of President Kim Il Sung.
That day he took a benevolent measure to move themonument to the entrance to the historicsite.
As a result, a resting place of the people, whereeveryone can visit and enjoy the beautiful scenery to their heart’s content,was built later in the place where the monument had stood.
