Seventy two years have passed since the Korean war unleashed by the US imperialists against the DPRK ended in victory for the Korean people with a firework display in the sky over the country.

The Korean people greet the V-Day every year with the pride that they are the descendants of the victorious wartime generation and the honourable winners who have defended the ever-victorious traditions in the DPRK-US confrontation that lasts for more than seven decades.

On July 27, 1953, the three-year war ended with the conclusion of an armistice agreement, but the DPRK-US showdown has continued in an atmosphere no less fierce than the war.

Far from drawing a lesson from their disgraceful defeat in the war, the US imperialists attempted hard to swallow the DPRK, pursuing a vicious and despicable hostile policy towards it for more than half a century.

They have perpetrated highly dangerous military provocations against the DPRK. Besides, they have doggedly opposed it in political, economic, cultural and all other aspects, resorting to the most shameful and ferocious ways unprecedented in history.

Although another war has not yet broken out in the Korean peninsula, a touch-and-go situation followed by military tension has constantly loomed in the region. The history of the DPRK-US confrontation is in fact a continuation of fierce confrontation between independence and domination, progress and reaction, and justice and injustice.

Literally, the DPRK has faced nearly impossible odds. However, the Korean people have steadfastly carried forward the ever-victorious traditions and inflicted ignominious defeats upon the US imperialists, as they value the sovereignty and dignity of their country more than their own lives.

A typical example is Pueblo incident. In January 1968 the US imperialists sent　 　their armed spy ship Pueblo , which intruded into the territorial waters of the DPRK before it was captured by the Korean People’s Army Navy. This incident is recorded in the history of the DPRK-US confrontation as a brilliant victory for the heroic Korean people.

Entering this century, the US imperialists revealed their sinister intention to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK. Having placed the DPRK on the list of their targets for preemptive nuclear strike, they have openly threatened the country with nukes. Foolishly believing that the DPRK would collapse, they intensified all sorts of sanctions against the country. However, their anti-DPRK moves have always been frustrated by the DPRK. It has taken a hardline stance, firmly defending its sovereignty and dignity for more than half a century. Particularly, the DPRK has come to possess arms of justice, absolute weapons capable of coping with the US nuclear threat and blackmail. This was another victory for the DPRK and another defeat for the US imperialists.

The US imperialists sustained defeat in the Korean war, which can be called a showdown between rifle and atomic bomb. Therefore, it would be foolish if they think they can realize their aggressive ambition in the confrontation with the DPRK which is now a military power. In conclusion, they have never escaped defeat in the confrontation with the DPRK which has lasted more than 70 years.

Today the DPRK is demonstrating its might as a military power, in name and reality, recognized by the world and achieving remarkable successes in the drive for realizing the dreams and ideals of the people.

The Korean people are vigorously stepping up the comprehensive development of socialism, with conviction in the validity of their cause, under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , firmly united around him as he is leading the Korean revolution to victory and glory with his extraordinary political ability, outstanding military strategy and matchless pluck and courage.

Now the US imperialists are hell-bent on the anachronistic anti-DPRK confrontation racket but this is no more than a suicidal act of those driven into a tight corner. Nothing can change the tide of the DPRK-US confrontation forever.

Victory in the confrontation will always be in store for the DPRK.
