Shortly ago, a staff reporter visited Saeppyol Street newly built in the Hwasong area of the capital city of Pyongyang to meet its residents.
In the street high-, medium- and low-storey apartment buildings boasting formative and artistic beauty, practicality and convenience form an imposing architectural group in good harmony with public buildings such as commercial and neighbourhood-serving amenities. And the beautiful pondside scenery adds more to the landscape of the whole street.
The street is a cradle provided by the country for the families of the fallen fighters in the overseas military operations who unhesitatingly sacrificed their lives to defending the dignity and honour of their country.
An official of Hwasong District said that bereaved families from Pyongyang, South Phyongan Province, South Hwanghae Province and elsewhere moved into new houses.
The first leg of my visit was flat No. 1 on the fifth floor of Neighbourhood Unit No. 42, Saeppyol-dong, Hwasong District.
I was greeted by Ri Hyang Ran, the wife of martyr Kim Tong Chun, twice Hero of the DPRK, and her two sons, who study at Kim Il Sung University. Ri showed me her house licence given in the name of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, and recalled with emotion that on the day when the street was inaugurated, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited her house and blessed her family.
The next leg was the flat of Pak Nyon Sik, mother of martyr O Thae Chol, who lives next door. She showed me around her house with three living rooms, kitchen, washroom and verandas.
Her house is furnished with all things needed for living, including sofas, TV set, sideboard, dining table, beds, desk and others.
In addition, officials of the city and district are taking good care of their life, frequently visiting them to learn more about their living conditions lest there might be any inconvenience. And medical workers are playing their part in ensuring that they fully enjoy the medical benefits provided by the state.
Among the residents are former coal miners, educators and farmers.
They unanimously extended their gratitude to Comrade Kim Jong Un who initiated the construction of the new street, named it Saeppyol Street and energetically guided the whole course of its construction.
Through the visit I could picture in my mind the happy future of the residents who have moved into new flats amid warm blessings of the people across the country.
