April 25 this year marks the 94th founding anniversary of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army. The great leader Kim Il Sung founded the first revolutionary armed forces in the DPRK.
He set forth a Juche-oriented line on waging an anti-Japanese armed struggle at the Kalun meeting in the summer of 1930. He then organized the Korean Revolutionary Army, the first armed group of the Korean revolutionaries, and unveiled a policy on founding standing revolutionary armed forces at the Mingyuegou meeting in December 1931.
Accordingly, small guerrilla units began to be formed in different regions and dynamic efforts were made to lay mass foundations for the armed struggle, obtain weapons and overcome serious obstacles in the way of founding the guerrilla army. This fully provided objective and subjective conditions for founding the revolutionary armed forces. On this basis, Comrade Kim Il Sung declared the founding of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army on the tableland at Tuqidian in Xiaoshahe, Antu County of China, on April 25, 1932.
The KPRA was a genuine army of the people which fought to defend their interests and revolutionary armed forces aimed at defeating the Japanese imperialists, achieving the cause of national liberation and eliminating all sorts of class oppression and exploitation and building socialism.
The founding of the KPRA marked a historic event that demonstrated at home and abroad the steadfast stand of the Korean revolutionaries to settle accounts with the imperialists to the last by force of arms and their indomitable will to break through all challenges by their own efforts, not relying on other’s help or assistance, and work towards the final victory of the revolutionary cause.
Under the command of Comrade Kim Il Sung , the KPRA soldiers waged an arduous armed struggle against the Japanese imperialists and finally achieved the historic cause of national liberation on August 15, 1945.
