The 34th April Spring Friendship Art Festival opened in Pyongyang on the occasion of the 114th birth anniversary of the great leader Kim Il Sung.
The festival brought together famous art troupes, dance troupes and acrobatic troupes of tens of countries including Russia, China, Laos, Vietnam, Mongolia and Cambodia as well as overseas Korean art troupes.
Put on the stages of the festival will be programs praising the immortal exploits of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who made a tremendous contribution to carving out the destiny of the masses of the people and accomplishing the cause of global independence and colourful works showing the traditional customs of peoples of different countries and the new phase of development of their national culture.
The video-recorded performances give an artistic picture of the infinite fascination and admiration of the world progressives for the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and aspiration for independence, peace and friendship. They will clearly demonstrate the aspect of the 34th international art festival.
The 34th April Spring Friendship Art Festival opened.
The program dealing with the opening of the festival introduced the form and method of holding the festival and its scale, congratulatory speeches of personages of broad stripes in different countries of the world and some scenes of performances given by artistes.
Minister of Culture of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Hyon Un Chol, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Festival, warmly congratulated the creators and artistes of different countries and overseas Korean artistes on their participation in the 34th April Spring Friendship Art Festival. Expressing the belief that this festival will be a significant occasion of strengthening cultural exchange and cooperation according to the expectations of the Korean people and the world progressives, he declared the festival open.
The mixed choruses of the immortal revolutionary paeans "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and "Song of General Kim Jong Il", the dance "Holiday Dance" and other colourful numbers prepared by artistes of the Aleksandrov Academic Ensemble of Song and Dance of the Russian Army decorated the opening of the festival meaningfully.
