The new school year started in 2026.
Opening ceremonies of the new school year were held at all educational institutions across the country from the capital city of Pyongyang to the remote mountain villages and isolated island hamlets on April 1.
The schoolchildren in all parts of the country including the new primary school pupils and junior middle school students went to school, wearing new uniforms and carrying "Sonamu"-brand schoolbags with "Mindulle"-brand notebooks and "Haebaragi"-brand school things associated with the loving care of the Workers' Party of Korea.
National flags were hoisted at the universities, colleges and schools before the ceremonies.
Officials of the Party and government organs and relevant institutions, teaching staff, pupils and students congratulated the new pupils and students, presenting them with bouquets.
Speakers at the ceremonies stressed that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea will be built into a country of education prospering with education under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is writing a new history of building an educational power and a talent power.
Pupils and students expressed their resolve to study hard and make strenuous efforts to grow up to be successors to the revolution and builders of a powerful country.
First lessons of the new school year began after the ceremonies.
