Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) — The Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea issued an appeal to the working class and trade union members across the country on March 30, under the title “Let us fully demonstrate the strong spirit of the heroic Korean working class in the sacred struggle for the comprehensive development of socialism, cherishing the great trust of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea as lifeblood”.

The appeal said that an all-people general advance for the brilliant fulfillment of the new Five-Year Plan began along the road of victory indicated by the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

The Party Central Committee designed a brighter future of our country, believing in the mettle of the struggle of our working class who invariably carried forward the traditions of loyalty and patriotism in the annals of the revolution, the appeal said, and went on:

Let us systematically increase the production of iron and steel, as befitting the eldest son of the country who has set high goals for himself, challenged the impossibility and upheld the Party’s plan and determination, thus strongly guaranteeing the growth and development of the overall economy.

The workers and trade union members in the chemical industry sector!

You should hold fast to self-reliance and science and technology as lifeline and kindle the flames of the drive for increased production and creation so as to push ahead with the drive for putting the chemical industry on an independent and modern basis.

The workers and trade union members in the electric-power and coal industries!

You should always connect the blood vessel with Pyongyang, the capital city, and play a powerful engine’s role in the vanguard of carrying out the new Five-Year Plan with patriotic enthusiasm.

You should be a source of enthusiasm and inexhaustible driving force that adds light and heat to our advancing country, as befitting the core of the country defending the forward base of the self-supporting economy!

Let us launch an intensive competition for modernization and quality improvement by following the fighting spirit and mettle of the working class of the Ryongsong Machine Complex who created the Chollima spirit in the new era, and thus turn the country’s machine industry into a development- and creation-oriented one.

The workers and trade union members in the construction sector should turn the capital city of Pyongyang into a world-class city and make the regional areas and rural areas seethe with the creation of new legendary tales of construction by embodying the spirit and mettle with which they brought about eye-opening miracles and changes through the vigorous revolution in construction!

The workers and trade union members in the building-materials industry should perform greater miracles and innovations, following the workers of the Sangwon Cement Complex who are standing in the van of the struggle involving the whole country, holding the torch of the times embodying the secret of the development of our state!

The workers and trade union members in the sector of railway transport!

Let us further consolidate the material and technical foundations of the railways by dint of the socialist patriotic movement and continue to carry forward the traditions of the proud campaign of increased railway transport!
