A Pyongyang military-civilian meeting and a public procession took place with splendour at Kim Il Sung Square on February 27. The participants pledged to implement the decisions of the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Taking the platform were Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and premier of the DPRK Cabinet, and other members of the Party central leadership.

Attending the meeting were the participants in the Ninth Party Congress, officials of ministries and national agencies, officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students in Pyongyang, and members of the congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan and the congratulatory group of the General Association of Koreans in China.

Ju Chang Il, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, addressed the meeting.

Thanks to the outstanding guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , our Party and state have glorified their dignity and prestige at the highest level and the people and the service personnel more deeply cherished the spirit of self-respect and self-development and self-confidence in their hearts, he said.

Stressing the basic idea and spirit of the Ninth Congress of the WPK, he said that a decisive guarantee of steadily advancing to the attainment of a far-reaching ideal in the face of challenges and trials lies in thoroughly implementing the five-point requirements of the times for comprehensive development, set forth by the Party Central Committee, under the uplifted banner of the three revolutions–ideological, technological and cultural–the general line of the WPK.

He called upon all to redouble their efforts full of patriotic enthusiasm in order to accelerate the dynamic struggle for the successful implementation of the decisions of the Ninth Congress of the WPK and for the prosperity and development of the DPRK, the glorious motherland.

Then speeches were made by Vice-minister of National Defence Kim Yong Gun and Chairman of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the youth league Jo Chol Jun.

A letter of pledge to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was adopted at the meeting.

The public procession began with the playing of the song “Long Live the Workers’ Party of Korea”.

Preceded by the columns with a float depicting the emblem of the WPK, the columns of marchers marched past the square, holding placards and signboards reading “Let’s fully demonstrate the dignity and heroism of our state and people under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un !” “Forever with our Party Central Committee”, “Single-minded unity”, etc.

The marchers raised the stormy cheers of “Hurrah!” in reflection of their fervent reverence for Kim Jong Un who is demonstrating before the world the great dignity and might of the DPRK.

The square resounded with all-people songs praising the motherly Party and songs of advance representing the times, showcasing the high enthusiasm to concentrate on attaining the goals of the new five-year plan unveiled by the Party Congress, full of conviction in the victory of their idea and cause.
