One day in January 2014, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the State Academy of Sciences.
That day he said: Scientific research is just like going through virgin snow. No matter how difficult the country’s situation may be, importance should be attached to science and technology and major efforts be directed to their development. Nothing should be spared for scientists and technicians, precious assets of the country. Today I visited the State Academy of Sciences mainly to solve the problem of dwelling houses for scientists.
He had a photo session with scientists and left around midday for Lake Yonphung far away from there.
After arriving at the shore of the lake which he had visited several times to select the site of a holiday camp for scientists, he examined several layouts and ensured that the best of them would be adopted to complete the project. Then he stressed the need to provide everything necessary for scientists at the best possible level.
Later he visited the construction sites of the dwelling houses and the holiday camp several times to solve the problems arising in the projects.
Under such meticulous care and guidance, in October that year the Wisong Scientists Residential District consisting of dozens of multi-storey apartment blocks, public buildings and parks and the Yonphung Scientists Holiday Camp were inaugurated. The holiday camp was designed to help scientist relieve their fatigue and train themselves physically while enjoying delightful and colourful leisure activities.
