The Workers’ Party of Korea held several important meetings after its Eighth Congress. Not a few of them discussed the issues concerning the rising generations as their special agenda items.
For example, the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee in June 2021 adopted the childcare policy on providing the children across the country with dairy products and other nutritious foods. And the policy was legalized at the Sixth Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK in February 2022.
The Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee in December 2021 set it as a consistent policy of the Party and the state to supply school uniforms and things to the students across the country. At the plenary meeting the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the supply of school uniforms to children is not a work that may or may not be fulfilled according to conditions, but a policy of our Party and the eternal state policy of the Republic that should be done unconditionally as the top priority task. In order to make children fairly well-dressed, he examined samples of school uniforms on the first day of the new year and saw to it that factories exclusively producing school uniforms were built in different parts of the country.
A number of plenary meetings were held during the term of the Eighth Party Central Committee. One of them specially stressed the need to have a correct viewpoint on education, and the other discussed the issue of enhancing the sense of responsibility in the implementation of socialist policies for schoolchildren as an important agenda item.
In his letter to those attending the Ninth Congress of the Korean Children’s Union, Kim Jong Un said that the top policy priority for the Party and state is always focused on the younger generations, and that this is an invariable principle followed by the WPK and our state’s eternal policy.
