Country and youth are one

Last year, too, many young people volunteered for workplaces in response to the country’s call.

With the first news of volunteering of tens of young people in South Phyongan Province, similar news of such volunteers across the DPRK were reported without let-up all year round.

The young people did not hesitate to volunteer for any place, including important sectors of economic construction, new development areas, socialist construction sites and farms, as wished by the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Among the young volunteers were graduates from middle schools and universities and discharged soldiers.

Not a few young people in Pyongyang volunteered to work in workplaces far away from the capital city, leaving behind their former workplaces and beloved families.

The graduates from middle schools for orphans across the country, who grew enjoying all benefits of the state as much as to be envied even by children with their own parents, also joined in the volunteering with a mind to devote their strength and passion to the country.

A youth league official in Junggang County volunteered to work at the county’s raw materials base station together with his family, saying that officials should take the lead in the patriotic work for ushering in an era of change.

Many graduates of universities of education started to work as teachers at branch schools on islands and schools in remote mountain villages.

Last year, too, graduates of senior middle schools across the country enthusiastically volunteered to join the Korean People’s Army.

Among the volunteers were those who had received the notices of admission to universities or colleges but joined the Korean People’s Army and those who left for front-line border guard posts, following in the footsteps of their grandfathers and fathers.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s great trust in young people motivated the graduates to do such patriotic deeds.

In the stirring speech he made at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the 450-hectare greenhouse farm and the vegetable science research centre held in February last year, the General Secretary said: We are full of self-confidence and courage to change the times because we have the army and young people who believe in their own strength and are boundlessly loyal to the leadership of the Party and we have kept following the road toward a powerful state thanks to the feats of the heroic army and young people.

People say that the news about volunteering of young people reported successively from the beginning of the year to December, the end of the year, heralds the beautiful future of the country to be accelerated thanks to the dynamic efforts of young people.

Women take active part in public life

Women, too, fully displayed enthusiasm to fulfil their duty as citizens at worthwhile workplaces of socialist construction.

Women in Uijin-dong and Unjong-dong of Kanggye City in Jagang Province volunteered for the Uijin Farm under the provincial rural economy committee and the Unjong Vegetable Farm of the city in January last year out of a desire to repay the benevolence of the country which provided them with houses and various household goods after they had been left homeless due to flood damage.

Then women in Haeju City of South Hwanghae Province volunteered to work at a school uniform factory, with a resolve to repay the care of the country even a bit as it repeatedly took benevolent measures for the rising generation.

In addition, many women, with a resolve to make even a little contribution to implementing the regional development policy, went to the construction site of the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm to redouble the spirit of builders through motivation activities and find and do jobs by themselves. And others volunteered to do such jobs as raising silkworms and collecting idle materials to contribute to the country’s economic life.

Other women’s union members sincerely took care of war veterans and honoured disabled soldiers like their blood relatives and devoted their sincere efforts to workplaces of school uniform factories and the urban management sector.

It is the unanimous desire of the numerous women who have performed patriotic deeds to repay even a bit the benefits of the country, which provides the people with great care by taking full responsibility for their lives and living, though they work at different workplaces, for example socialist farm fields, raw materials bases of regional-industry factories and road facilities management stations.
