The Regional Development 20×10 Policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea aims at building modern regional-industry factories in 20 cities and counties every year and, at the same time, building modern public health facilities, leisure complexes and grain storage stations in ten years, thus achieving the simultaneous, balanced and rapid development of the whole country.

With the inauguration ceremony of the Kangdong County Hospital on November 19 last year as the starting point, there were similar ceremonies of foodstuff, daily necessities and garment factories in succession in the other cities and counties, including Sinyang, Puryong, Rangnim and Taegwan counties and City of Sinpho.

In particular, the Kangdong people’s joy grew as they came to have a modern hospital, regional-industry factories which are modern, profitable and promising and a leisure complex, which will promote their civilized cultural life, at the same time in less than a year.

An advanced medical service base was built in Kusong City, which the locals had never imagined.

The eye-opening reality, in which construction projects are completed in the year when their groundbreaking ceremonies were held, demonstrating the vigorous advance of regions, is attributable to the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s ardent love for the people and his outstanding leadership.

It is his cherished desire to make sure that anyone who is born on this land would lead an affluent and civilized life thanks to the socialist policy, whether they live in the capital city or regions and in towns or remote mountain villages.

At major meetings of the Party and the state, the General Secretary indicated the tasks and ways for raising regional construction onto a higher level. Then he saw to it that materials and equipment needed for regional construction were provided on a preferential basis and visited construction sites in different parts of the country to energetically lead the work to make fresh progress in design and construction.

At the groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of the hospital and leisure complex in Kangdong County, he made a stirring speech before digging the first spadeful of earth for groundbreaking. And he visited the relevant construction sites and that of Kusong City Hospital several times to learn in detail about the progress in the projects and give important instructions.

He also visited the construction sites of regional-industry factories in Sinyang and Pukchang counties of South Phyongan Province and in other regions to give instructions not only for the successful progress in the projects but also for the direction of their future operation, revitalization of production and development.

Indeed, the vigorous advance of regions is the fruition of his extraordinary leadership.

Looking round the foodstuff factory and leisure complex in Kangdong County which was inaugurated with splendour on December 15 last year, he said that to make a leap forward in the regional areas and provide the people with precious entities of rejuvenation and civilization is a sacred undertaking which the WPK serving the people should unconditionally and consistently push ahead without a moment’s stagnation or delay.

At the inauguration ceremony of the regional-industry factories in Sinpho City, he expressed once again the will and determination of the Party to set higher goal of regional development and take longer strides for progress to persistently attain it without an inch of deflection.

His journey of devotion to the people has thus led to their happiness and the rosy future of a prosperous country.
