A delegation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation led by Speaker Byacheslav Volodin arrived in Pyongyang on the 14th to pay a congratulatory visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation at the invitation of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK.
The national flags of the DPRK and the Russian Federation were fluttering on the flagpoles at the Pyongyang International Airport and guards of honour of the Korean People's Army were standing at the apron in front of the terminal.
Choe Ryong Hae, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and First Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, came out to the airport.
The delegation was greeted by Kang Yun Sok, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly; Pak In Chol, Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly; Kim Jong Gyu, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ri Chol, President of the Academy of Medical Science under the Ministry of Public Health who is Chairman of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Parliamentary Group; Alexandr Matsegora, Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the DPRK; and staff members of his embassy.
The delegation headed for its lodgings amid the warm welcome of the people.
