Korea was liberated from the Japanese imperialists’ military occupation on August 15, 1945.

The event was of historic significance in that it put a permanent end to the history of sufferings of the Korean people and opened up a new era for their country.

The Korean people had long suffered misery, fettered by feudalism. Then, entering the 20th century, they were forced to live as slaves as their country were occupied by the Japanese imperialists from 1905 to 1945. The Japanese imperialists enforced tyrannical policies, mercilessly depriving the Korean people of their elementary right to existence and harshly oppressing their struggle for social progress.

When the destiny of the Korean people was at stake, Comrade Kim Il Sung embarked on the road of revolution with a high ambition for winning back the country. On that road he created the Juche idea and led the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle under the banner of the idea.

The anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle was an arduous and complicated revolution which the Korean revolutionaries had to wage under the Japanese imperialists’ colonial suppression and it was a harsh war which they had to fight while obtaining all they needed by their own efforts without any backing of the state or support of a regular army.

But Kim Il Sung led the 20-year-long war to victory by relying on all-people resistance with the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army as its core force and achieved the historic cause of country’s liberation, thereby opening a wide road for building a new society.

After their country’s liberation, the Korean people implemented various democratic reforms like the agrarian reform and nationalization of major industries and put industry, agriculture and all other sectors of the national economy onto a new stage of development.

They realized the cause of founding the party, the army and the state in a short period after the liberation and won a brilliant victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953) against US imperialists’ armed invasion. Afterwards, they constantly wrought miracles in the post-war rehabilitation and socialist construction, laying an ever-lasting foundations for building a prosperous country.

In addition, they successfully carried out the task of socialist industrialization in a short period of 14 years, built a socialist state, independent, self-sufficient and self-reliant in national defence and advanced the socialist cause of Juche along the road of victory while frustrating the ceaseless moves of the imperialists to isolate and suffocate their country. All these achievements are unthinkable apart from the country’s liberation.

This is why they highly praise Kim Il Sung as their saviour, peerless patriot and founder of socialist Korea forever.

His immortal exploits will shine forever with the history of the DPRK which is now advancing forward, winning one victory after another under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .
