The Chongnam building-materials manufactory under the Anju Area Coal-mining Complex has developed an ornamental tile made of expansion vermiculite.
According to developers, the expansion vermiculite is made by momentarily baking grounded vermiculite at a high temperature. Recently the new green architectural material enjoys popularity among customers in many countries.
As it is beneficial to health and helps to keep the environment neat and tidy, it is recognized as an ideal green building material and a health-friendly functional material in the 21st century.
Korea has a rich deposit of vermiculite. Through deep intensive research, the manufactory established a line of producing expansion vermiculite tiles as a final-stage interior decoration material and addressed technical challenges arising in choosing a coagulant needed for moulding the tiles and improving their quality. Thus they succeeded in developing the ornamental tiles strong in bending strength and hardness.
The ornamental tiles developed by the manufactory have good heat insulation, sound absorption, fire proofing, humidity adjustment and antibiotic functions. They are well accepted as they purify the room atmosphere by generating anions and removing unpleasant smell.
The building material that looks to be studded with yellowish jewels makes rooms and buildings imposing and majestic with its natural colour.
The interior of the canteens in several mines under the complex is decorated with this material. It keeps the indoor atmosphere clean and makes the miners feel cool in summer and tranquil in winter.
The expansion vermiculite of diverse colours and patterns enjoys growing demand.
