The DPRK has built many structures for the good of the working class—hostels, halls of culture, holiday camps and sanatoriums.
Among them is the workers’ hostel at the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill.
One day in October 2013, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the mill and heard that many of its workers were living at an old hostel.
That day, he inspected the site for a hostel to be newly built and took a measure of enlisting a construction force of the Korean People’s Army for the construction of the hostel.
The next day, he said to officials concerned that the construction of the hostel should be completed before May Day the following year.
True to his noble intention, the soldier-builders completed the workers’ hostel provided with all facilities needed for living including bedroom, canteen, bathroom, shop, clinic and library in a little more than 180 days.
Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the mill again in late April the following year. Seeing the hostel nearing completion, he said with satisfaction that now that its construction was to be completed before May Day, he could keep his promise with the workers of the mill. Looking round several places of the hostel with pleasure, he dropped in at the canteen and said that it was better than any banquet hall or restaurant for wedding ceremony. Then he took a measure of arranging a grand banquet for workers in celebration of May Day there.
As a result, a grand banquet for workers was held at the newly built workers’ hostel.
Modern workers’ hostels have been built at different workplaces like the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Silk Mill and Sinuiju and Sariwon textile mills, providing a happy life to their workers.
