The General Bureau of the Tanchon Area Mining Industry has achieved great successes in the work to readjust and reinforce its affiliated mines, factories and enterprises in recent years.
The Komdok Mining Complex has remodelled the transport system on the basis of a detailed study of the stopes, ore-conveying lines and ore-dressing system deployed at the faces, thus raising the transport of ore in the upper and deep areas by more than 1.5 times on a daily average.
It has also pushed ahead with the work to instal new compressor stations and reinforce 1 000-odd face equipment in the deep area, so as to create over one million tons of mining capacity more than planned.
A new high-quality magnesia clinker production base and a coal gasification-based refractory brick production line have been built at the Taehung Youth Hero Mine and the Songjin Fire-proof Materials Factory respectively, cementing the development potential of the Tanchon area, a promising nonferrous mineral and magnesia clinker producer in the country.
In addition, the introduction of advanced science and technology leads to the improvement of grades and actual extraction rate of lead and zinc concentrates. And a new production method by means of direct leaching of surface layer was applied to increase production.
Amid the brisk efforts for readjustment and reinforcement of the overall production foundations of the mines and industrial establishments, the general bureau has increased the output of nonferrous minerals by three times and the production of electrolytic zinc by 1.8 times as against 2020.
Now the workers under the General Bureau are out for the efforts to attain the goals of the new five-year plan set forth by the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
