There is a girl with disabilities at Tangsang Primary School in Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang. Her name is Kim Ryo Un.
Far from walking, she could hardly sit up just two years ago. But now she is able to dance.
She had a deeply cherished dream.
Despite having disabilities, she wished to dance on the stage in a beautiful dress like others.
Even her parents thought that it was an impossible dream. But An On Jong, a dance instructor at Tangsang Primary School, thought otherwise and volunteered to take care of the girl.
She already trained a student with disabilities like Ryo Un over ten years ago. The student performed at a TV show.
In 2024, Kim in a new uniform went to school on her mother’s back to start schooling, and met An On Jong for the first time.
“We work together from now on, shall we? I’ll be with you when you receive treatment and training. You should make all happy with your dance without fail,” said An as she hugged her.
An worked out a scientific plan for treating and training the girl and carried it out every day with the result that she recovered from paralysis in dozens of days and walked around in another dozens of days.
Today, Kim Ryo Un is engrossed in dancing with the help of An.
People say Kim has realized her dream thanks to the socialist education system.
