One day in March 2021 the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited a riverside area near Pothong Gate to examine the layout for a terraced houses district to be newly built in this area.
While looking at the area where new houses were to be built, he said that it is necessary to improve the environment of landscape and ecology in Pyongyang and that by doing so the Workers’ Party of Korea firmly intends to turn the city into a world model in terms of landscape and ecological environment.
He added: When we increase the green acreage in Pyongyang through good landscaping and grow trees and cover plants, maintain the roads and operate sewage treatment facilities as properly as possible, we can develop Pyongyang into a city that meets the world level in ecological environment.
After stressing the need to landscape the terraced houses district well, he said that landscaping the areas of the riverside street of Puksae and the Pothong riverside in front of the new residential area should be done as uniquely as befitting a luxury houses district and that it is needed to plant lots of good species of trees and flowering shrubs to that end.
Pyongyang should become a global role model for landscaping and ecological environmental protection, and it should take the lead, in this light, in the nationwide effort in the future, he noted.
