Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) — DPRK players returned home after taking part in the 2026 International Freestyle Wrestling Tournament “Ivan Yarygin Cup” held in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.
The tournament brought together more than 500 men and women players from over 20 countries including the DPRK, Russia, Mongolia and Uzbekistan. DPRK players won eight medals including five gold medals.
Won Myong Gyong, Choe Hyo Gyong, Son Il Sim, Kim Ok Ju and Pak Sol Gum took the first places and won gold medals in women’s wrestling 50kg, 53kg, 57kg, 62kg and 68kg categories respectively.
O Kyong Ryong and Hong Pyol placed second in women’s wrestling 53kg and 57kg categories and Han Chong Song third in freestyle wrestling 57kg category.
The players, who returned home after glorifying the honor of the country, were greeted at Pyongyang International Airport by officials in the field of sports, sportspersons and families on Wednesday.
