One day in January 2014, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected a seafood refrigerating facility newly built by a unit of the Korean People’s Army.
Having learned in detail about the construction and situation of the facility, he highly praised the service personnel for building a modern seafood refrigerating facility with a very large capacity in a short span of time and called on the People’s Army to continue to take the lead in catching fish.
He said that he was there to discuss the possibility of supplying fish to baby homes, orphanages, primary and middle schools for orphans and old people’s homes across the country, adding that it is a firm determination and will of the Workers’ Party of Korea to make all the orphans grow up healthily to be successors to and pillars of the revolution without feeling sorrow of being parentless.
He then calculated on his pocketbook how much fish would be needed to supply them with fish regularly.
He told officials that the People’s Army would undertake the task of supplying fish to all the baby homes, orphanages, primary and middle schools for orphans and old people’s homes all year round, and issued on the spot an order in his then capacity as the supreme commander of the KPA on organizing a fishery station to this end.
Several months later, a new fishing station was built on the coast of the East Sea of Korea.
