At the 73 rd session of the UN General Assembly in 2018, January 24 was designated the International Day of Education, as a part of the effort to improve the quality of education at all levels encompassing pre-schooling and primary and secondary education, and to increase public awareness about lifelong education.

Many countries are now focusing their resources on higher quality education with a view to advancing the development of the country and nation and by introducing new methodology and more streamlined structure in the field of education, they are steadily improving the education in their respective countries.

Having defined education as an important undertaking that decides the rise and fall of a nation, President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il directed their lifetime efforts to the development of the country’s education.

By initiating and implementing people-first policies in education, the DPRK set a good example of universal free education and all-people education soon after the liberation, and by establishing education institutions of all levels and modern extracurricular education and arts education facilities like schoolchildren’s palaces and children’s camps across the country, the DPRK boosted education and edification of younger generation and its people.

With the noble intention of building our country into an education power and talent power prosperous and powerful by dint of the most advanced level of education, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un started and led a revolution in the field of education in the new century.

Comrade Kim Jong Un saw to it that the revolution is not about following the footsteps of others but about competing with and challenging the world’s most advanced level so that our country surpasses the most developed countries in education within the shortest span of time by taking a creative, innovative and proactive approach, and also took effective measures to that end.

At the major conferences of the Party and the state including the 3 rd plenary meeting of the 7 th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the 10 th session of the 14 th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, education was tabled as an important agenda of the meeting and Comrade Kim Jong Un clarified specific tasks and ways for education sector to develop the country’s education onto the most advanced level – a reliable guarantee of the country’s future.

Initiated by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , revolution in the field of education in the new century has ushered in an era of all-people learning to their hearts’ content, and with the nation-wide atmosphere of prioritizing education and valuing talented personnel in place, we are confident that our motherland will turn into the world’s leading education and talent power in near future.
