On November 20, the Hoeyang Army-People Power Station was inaugurated in Kangwon Province, which means the province carried out the task of building six power stations—a decision made by the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
With a smaller population and weaker industrial foundations than other provinces, the province planned to build hydroelectric plants in Ichon, Munchon, Sepho, Phyonggang, Kosong and Hoeyang areas in a row. This was an uphill task beyond existing concept and conventional knowledge.
But the provincial people pushed ahead with the project with confidence in their own strength, with an unwavering determination to carry out the Party’s decision at any cost and on the strength of the army-people unity.
The state took every possible measure to help them step up the project.
The completion of the project made it possible to promote the regional development and improve the material and cultural living standards of the local people.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Hoeyang Army-People Power Station, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un described the provincial people as patriots who had written our era in a chapter of history by building power stations and called those power stations in different parts of the province fortresses of faith in socialism built by the concerted efforts of the soldiers and civilians.
Today the provincial people continue to take the lead in the struggle for the victorious advance of socialist construction.
