The scientists of the Academy of Agricultural Science have newly established a regenerated rice cultivation technology.
The new approach allows for increasing rice output in paddy fields with poor prospects for harvest as a result of flood damage. Therefore, it is expected to be effective in overcoming the effects of the disastrous abnormal climate and increasing crop yield.
In the past the scientists made steady endeavours to establish a regenerated rice cultivation technology that meets local conditions as they worked on different areas inundated by heavy rains.
They made a detailed survey and analysis of the conditions of rice crops and expected yield drop according to their varieties in different fields that had been inundated for different periods.
Meanwhile, they developed the techniques of raising the yield of the regenerated rice by working out the methods to protect crops from the damage by harmful insects and produce and apply the germicides, stimulants and nutrients for their better growth and ensure scientific fertilizer application and water control.
The approach proved effective in North Phyongan Province which was hit by flood last year.
