A reception was given by the embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the 20th to mark the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese people's anti-Japanese war and the world anti-fascist war.

Invited to the reception were Choe Ryong Hae, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and First Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, and officials concerned.

Also invited there were members of the foreign diplomatic corps in the DPRK.

Present there were Wang Yajun, Chinese ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, staff members of his embassy and Chinese guests staying in the DPRK.

Addressing the reception, Ambassador Wang Yajun said the victory in the unprecedentedly arduous anti-Japanese war is a great victory of not only the Chinese people but also the world people loving peace and justice.

He stressed that President Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the Korean people and close friend of the Chinese people, fought do-or-die battles against the Japanese aggressors with the Anti-Japanese Allied Army in Northeast China, making a great contribution to the Chinese people's victory in the anti-Japanese war.

He expressed his will to thoroughly implement the important common understanding reached by the top leaders of China and the DPRK and thus make contribution to advancing the socialist cause of the two countries and achieving happiness of the two peoples and peace and stability of the world.

Minister of Culture Sung Jong Gyu, in his speech, paid noble respects to the forerunners of the DPRK and China who sacrificed their youth and lives to the sacred anti-Japanese war without hesitation, and said he will make joint efforts with the Chinese comrades to constantly strengthen and develop the friendly and cooperative relations formed on the road for accomplishing the cause of independence against imperialism, the socialist cause, according to the lofty intention of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries.

He hoped that in the future, too, the Chinese people would make fresher successes in the course of realizing the Chinese nation's dream of rejuvenation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core.

Earlier, there took place a photo exhibition and reception hosted by the Chinese consul general in Chongjin of North Hamgyong Province.
