The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex works to reduce the cost of production by introducing advanced techniques and operate production lines on a normal basis so as to boost the output.
The complex has set an ambitious goal of boosting cement production by more than 10 times the amount of the increased output of the previous years.
This is a challenging task for the complex which has updated the peak production record several times in recent years since its inauguration.
The complex, however, is fulfilling its daily and weekly quotas without fail.
The smelters carried out the overhaul of furnace in a few days, which used to take them over ten days, in cooperation with relevant units, thus increasing the production of molten iron every day by well over a hundred tons as compared with the same period of last year.
They also conducted the technical remodelling of the bottom of the furnace in 12 hours, a workload supposed to take them several days, to ensure a steady growth of production.
The oxygen plant introduced a technical innovation idea, thus saving a lot of electricity, and the relevant units repaired thousands of metres of pipe networks while finishing the overhaul of coal economizer in merely 80-odd hours.
As a result, the daily output jumped by 1.5 times on average and 1.7 times at the maximum in February alone as compared with the same period of last year.
