Rural villages with fresher looks are sprucing up across the DPRK.
To build all the rural villages in the country in such a way as to preserve the features of Korean-style socialism and characteristics of the relevant regions—this is a plan of strategic importance to which the Workers’ Party of Korea gives top priority and which it is determined to carry out in order to provide the agricultural workers with an excellent living environment with nothing to envy in the world and achieve the overall development of the country.
Since the task of striving to renovate the rural villages across the country was set forth at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK, a large number of rural houses have been built every year to create a “season of house-moving” and unfold scenes of moving to new houses up and down the country.
The rural houses, which have been built to suit the local features of plain, mountainous and coastal areas, showcase the changing appearance of the countryside which is developing with each passing day.
This year, too, officials in the relevant sector and units are pushing ahead with the campaign to work out designs of modern dwelling houses so that they could be diverse in styles and represent local features and serve as new standards and models of rural civilization.
Hundreds of officials in charge of rural construction in the capital city and provinces and designers of provincial, city and county institutions from across the country are staying in Pyongyang involved in an intensive work to bring about new changes and progress in design.
In cooperation with those of the central design guidance organ, the officials of the central headquarters for rural construction and the relevant officials from each province hold group discussions and workshops on a regular basis and irrespective of time and place, thus making the design process an occasion to strengthen the local design forces and improve their qualifications.
The National Design Administration has examined in a responsible manner thousands of fine designs submitted by relevant provincial, city and county institutions, while stepping up the effort to hand over the completed ones to the construction sector at an early date.
Thanks to the efforts of the officials and designers of all units, layouts of rural villages that sustain the unique features and landscape in each province, city, county and farm are being worked out one after another.
