Scientists at Kim Il Sung University are playing their part in the development of the national economy and improvement of the people’s living standards.

Last year they helped the Jongju Microelement and Superphosphate Fertilizer Factory build and operate a sulfur intermediary pilot production line with an annual capacity of hundreds of tons, and addressed the issues arising in the project to produce fertilizer with phosphorite rock from the Onsong area, making it possible to turn out a large amount of phosphorite fertilizer every year.

They developed and introduced phytase for making feed additives and devised a technique for generating hydrogen peroxide in an advanced engineering method so that hydrogen peroxide could be mass-produced for medicine, light industry and other economic sectors.

They also developed over 30 kinds of applied nano composite material products, such as high-pressure sealing ring for heavy-duty gas condenser, hydraulic valve packing for gas cleaning, packing for tractors with 80hp and packing for thermal generator, in their efforts to help strengthen the self-reliance of the national economy.

Some of their research hits were locally honoured.

As one of the top 10 IT products of 2024, Jinung Jindan , a mechanical performance monitoring and troubleshooting system, monitors the performance of mechanical equipment in real time and predicts possible troubles to determine the maintenance time and support troubleshooting and maintenance work.

An infrared gas analyser that has been applied to the production of nitrogen fertilizer at the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex was registered as an advanced technical product.

A method of prospecting deep non-ferrous metallic deposits was highly appreciated at the national sci-tech presentation-2024 in the underground resources preservation field. It greatly helps cut labour and workload for prospecting and produce results irrelevant to weather and seasonal effects.

Scientists built a farmland management information system that monitors the nationwide landform usage with high-resolution satellite images and ensures a high level of land registration and management, as well as an agricultural management information system designed to control, analyze and coordinate supply and consumption of farming materials and farming processes, which have been applied to relevant agencies and production units across the country. They completed a design to be compatible with the information system of the World Meteorological Organization in a bid to improve the informatization of the meteorological sector.

Other achievements include a rational welding and heat treatment technique based on advanced technology, an efficient cement silo level meter, and an automatic shoe gluing system.
