Segori Primary School in Pothonggang District, Pyongyang, is working to improve the qualifications of its teachers.
It led them to work out their teaching plans on a high level through a comprehensive study of textbooks, reference books and realities and prepare various visual and other teaching aids.
It frequently organized various discussions on teaching methods and demonstration lessons to stimulate competition to help teachers improve their practical abilities.
In the course of this, many teachers have won the title of October 8 Model Teacher and received the certificate of registration of new teaching method and the certificate of invention of experimental apparatuses and teaching aids.
Such achievements proved their worth at the 25th national exhibition of educational experimental apparatuses and teaching aids in September.
The school presented 13 visual and teaching aids, including a relief map “Our Street” and experimental apparatuses on the intensity of electromagnetic force and the force on a slope. They drew the attention of visitors as they reflect the psychological characteristics of primary school students.
In particular, the relief map was top-rated as it helps primary school students learn many words while looking at the signboards and watchwords on street buildings.
“We prepared these exhibits with the focus on making them applicable to the intellectual development of students, not merely for the sake of the event,” says Yun Hyon Hui, headmistress of the school.
