In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea sea-bound on the east and the west, a national work is done to let the cities and counties in coastal regions make the most effective use of the marine resources by taking advantage of the favourable physiographical conditions.

As a result, the Sinpho City Offshore Farm was inaugurated in December 2024 and the Ragwon County Offshore Farm on August 30, 2025, promoting the development of the regional economy.

The Ragwon County Offshore Farm was wonderfully built into a more developed and peculiar base of turning out marine products than the Sinpho City Offshore Farm only in more than 190 days on the basis of the experience in the construction of the latter.

On August 26, 2025, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the completed Ragwon County Offshore Farm and the modern fishing-village residential district.

Looking round different places of the farm in detail, he gave valuable instructions on its management and operation and said with great satisfaction that Ragwon County, which is one of the tiny counties in the country and had a weak economic foundation, turned into the one with bright prospect of development.

He added: Looking round the Ragwon County Offshore Farm and the modern fishing-village residential district today, I cannot find any words to say but excellent. How good it would be to build all villages like Ragwonpho!

Saying so, he beamed all over his face.

Comrade Kim Jong Un chose the site of the farm in the best place in the east coastal area in person and examined a lot of designs and miniatures. He visited the place far away from the capital city time and again to suggest good ideas of correcting shortcomings.

The wonderful fishing village was built thanks to his devoted efforts.

After a while, Comrade Kim Jong Un said he wants to see the happy people in Ragwon County as early as possible and took measures to hold the inaugural ceremony of the Ragwon County Offshore Farm at an early date.

A few days later, he visited the farm again to participate in its inaugural ceremony.

That day, he recalled that he had called at the farm some days before and said that originally, its inaugural ceremony had been scheduled to be held on September 9, the founding anniversary of the DPRK, and continued:

It is good to hold the inaugural ceremony with political significance on the occasion of a holiday. But political occasion is not important all the time. So I saw that the ceremony was held today which has no connection with September 9.

Comrade Kim Jong Un smiled brightly, free from all kinds of cares, as he was so pleased to provide the people of Ragwon County with the gift he prepared with much effort.
