Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- The third workshop of chief secretaries of city and county Party committees took place from April 4 to 6.

The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea arranged the workshop for the first time after the Ninth Party Congress, prioritizing the position and role of the city and county Party committees, the political staff of the relevant regions, in carrying out the state-building strategy for making the regional development represent the advance and development of our state and making the ideal appearance of the regions symbolize the development of Korean-style socialism.

Present there were chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees and secretaries of the Party Central Committee, officials of relevant departments of the provincial Party committees and officials related to the local Party work.

Kim Jae Ryong, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, secretary and concurrently director of the Organizational Leadership Department of the Party Central Committee, made an opening address.

The workshop heard a report on the work done by the chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees to implement the Party's idea of attaching importance to the cities and counties and its line of strengthening the cities and counties for the past five years since the first workshop.

The reporter noted that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un formulated the political, organizational, ideological, discipline and work-style building as the five-point Party-building line in the new era to provide an important guideline to be adhered to by the party organizations of the whole Party and the city and county Party committees, and led the chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees to fulfill their mission and duty as befitting delegates of the Party Central Committee and servants of the people.

The report appreciated the work of many chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees, including the Party committees of Mangyongdae District, Hoeryong City, Kimhwa County, Jangyon County and Hamju County which have firmly consolidated the political and ideological positions and the class positions and strived for the distinctive development of the regional economy and the improvement of the regional people's material and cultural life, true to the noble intention of the Party Central Committee, for the past five years.

The report referred to the shortcomings revealed in the work of some city and county Party committees, and analyzed and reviewed their causes and lessons.

The reporter stressed the need for all the chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees to embody the strong Party spirit, revolutionary spirit and popular spirit and make more dynamic and steady efforts to implement the Party's line of strengthening the cities and counties and thus fulfill their responsibility and duty in making socialism take deeper root in the minds of the people.

Then, speeches were made.

The speakers expressed their resolve to make redoubled efforts with fresh determination and readiness in keeping with the requirements of the era of comprehensive development to thoroughly implement the long-term plans and action programmes for developing the regional areas and building rural civilization set forth by the Ninth Party Congress, and thus turn their regions into a people's paradise where their happy laughter and hurrah for the Workers' Party resound.

Through the workshop, the chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees have fully acquired the precious ideological and spiritual pabulum and methodologies necessary for strengthening the working efficiency of the city and county Party committees and putting the regional development on a new stage by holding fast to the five-point Party-building line in the new era. -0-
