Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) — In hearty response to the important tasks set forth at the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the light industry sector of the DPRK is endeavoring to produce more consumer goods for the people.
In recent years, many modern consumer goods production bases conducive to improving the people’s standard of living have been built or remodeled, and it resulted in an increase of the variety of consumer goods needed for the daily life of the people and considerable improvement of their qualities, giving pleasure to the people.
The reality witnessing the rapid development of the country’s light industry is an outcome of the Workers’ Party of Korea’s energetic and devoted leadership.
At the National Meeting of Light Industrial Workers held in March 2013, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth the main tasks for putting the light industry of the country on a high level, including radically increasing the production of mass consumer goods and dynamically propelling the work to place the production on a modern and scientific basis.
At the Eighth Congress of the WPK and other important meetings, he indicated the orientation and ways for developing the light industry, including the tasks for pushing ahead with the work for modernizing light industrial factories and building more modern light industrial factories and standard factories in a planned and proactive way and the issue of holding fast to the improvement of the quality of consumer goods as the seed and main direction of the revolution in the light industry.
He visited regional-industry factories and other light industrial factories built as the entities of the Party’s Regional Development 20×10 Policy and saw light-industry goods made in the country, including schoolbags, shoes, socks and condiments. And he has made painstaking efforts to provide the people with quality goods.
The light-industry goods exhibitions held in the past few years clearly showed the development of the country’s light industry making a leap forward day by day under the energetic leadership of Kim Jong Un.
