Football coach wins World Cup
Merited Athlete Pak Song Jin is a football coach of the April 25 Sports Team.
He cut a conspicuous figure in national and international competitions during his playing career. After becoming a coach, he steadily improved his qualifications based on his rich experience.
After taking charge of the women’s football team of the April 25 Sports Team, he defended its position as the greatest domestic power. He contributed to making the DPRK team become successful in the 2019 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship and different other international games.
Especially, he took part in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup as head coach of the DPRK team and led his team to lift the world cup.
Successive achievements
Pak Hyon Chol is the head of the Ministry of External Economic Relations Sports Club. When he was a coach of this club, its women wrestlers achieved lots of successes in national competitions and several of them finished in the top three in international games.
He demonstrated his practical abilities when he worked as the head coach of women’s wrestling of the national team.
Under his guidance, the Korean women wrestlers achieved successes in succession in international contests. Pak Yong Mi won the women’s 53kg category event of the 2019 World Wrestling Championship to become the first world champion in the women’s wrestling event of the DPRK.
In the period, Pak was honoured with the title of Merited Athlete and became head of the Ministry of External Economic Relations Sports Club.
After the 19th Asian Games, he became head coach of the women’s wrestling of the national team again.
He admirably fulfilled his heavy responsibility as head coach, while undertaking the overall affairs of the sports club with redoubled efforts.
Under his guidance, O Kyong Ryong and other women wrestlers were successful in the Asian and world wrestling championships in 2025.
In pursuit of old dream
Yang Chun Song is a wrestling coach of the April 25 Combat Sports Team.
As a player, he emerged triumphant in the Asian wrestling championships in 2008 and 2011.
After becoming the coach, he worked hard to help his trainees to realize the world championship dream which he failed to achieve during his playing career.
He paid particular attention to Han Chong Song and coached him to succeed in international games.
Han cut a conspicuous figure in the 19th Asian Games in 2023 in his international debut and won the 37th CISM World Military Wrestling Championship in 2024, the 2025 Asian Wrestling Championship and the 2025 World Wrestling Championship.
