Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the DPRK, received a congratulatory message from G. A. Zhuganov, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, on February 23.

The message said:

I extend sincere congratulations, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, to you on your election as the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

And I offer my felicitations to all the DPRK people on the ongoing successful Ninth Congress of the WPK.

Under the wise leadership of the WPK, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is advancing confidently along the road of building a powerful socialist state, while achieving remarkable successes in bolstering up its defence capabilities and developing science and cutting-edge technology, education and national economy.

The DPRK has firmly stood against ceaseless pressure of the hostile imperialist forces and overcome the ensuing arduous hardship, and is now defending its sovereignty, independence and socialist principles.

80 years ago the peoples of our two countries forged fraternal friendship, shedding blood together in the joint struggle against fascism.

Today we are fighting shoulder to shoulder again against emerging neo-Nazism and the hegemonic forces of aggression, demonstrating to the world the invincible militant friendship between Russia and the DPRK.

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation expresses deep respect for the heroic feats of the DPRK soldiers who displayed bravery and self-sacrificing spirit in the struggle to liberate Kursk from the aggressors, carrying forward the most wonderful tradition of international solidarity.

Their feats represent the excellent inheritance of the militant friendship between the Soviet Union and the DPRK displayed during the Great Patriotic War.

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation highly appreciates the principled stand of the DPRK on the matters of defending historical truth and ensuring the security of Russia, including her firm support for special military operations aimed at denazifying and demilitarizing Ukraine.

We attach special importance to the traditional and friendly relations between the two parties and will as ever make a positive contribution to boosting the multifaceted cooperation between the Russian Federation and the DPRK in conformity with the spirit of comprehensive strategic partnership.

I wish you good health and fresh successes in your work for leading the great Korean people.

I hope that the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea will bring prosperity, peace and victory of socialist construction to the Korean people and the DPRK and serve as a powerful driving force for accomplishing all the tasks set at the Congress.
