February 21 is the International Mother Language Day.
Mother tongue is the language that the people of a country concerned use as a common means of communication in all spheres of their social life.
The official language of the DPRK is Korean.
Korean is a praiseworthy language in terms of superiority, long history and purity.
Its developed and refined structure and system make it stand out.
Its intonation and fluency is also exceptionally pleasant to the ear, let alone high and low pitches and long and short notes in pronunciation.
Phonetically, the greater part of it sounds soft and resonant, and alphabetically, consonants and vowels are almost the same in proportion.
It is also rich in delicate and diverse vocabularies and expressions.
Even slight differences in things and phenomena can be delicately described, and the speaker can express a thing in a different way according to the situation and circumstances to accurately convey his or her meaning to others. In particular, its etiquette-related vocabularies are rich enough for courteous conversation.
Korean is also tight in grammatical structure.
It has many conjunctive particles which join together and coordinate words and phrases in a sentence and their syntactic relations are so diverse that it can exactly express complicated and delicate feelings.
Korean ancestors created their own alphabet called Hunminjongum in the 15th century and developed it in a scientific way.
The Korean alphabet is so scientific and systematic that it is easy to learn and write.
The standard Korean language is the Pyongyang dialect.
